TATA Build Instant Coffee Factory in Vietnam

The ground-breaking ceremony of instant coffee factory in Vietnam marked the beginning of a coffee factory project with capacity of 5,000 tons of instant coffee per year of TATA Coffee Ltd in VSIP II Industrial Park (Binh Duong).

TATA Coffee Factory is set to start production in 2019, aiming to serve its global clients with a new mix of instant coffee.

According to CEO of TATA Coffee Ltd, TATA Group has a close relationship with Vietnam in various fields such as automobile, steel, trade, energy and watches. With this investment, the beverage industry will also become a major area of TATA's participation in the investment here. Although TATA's products have been exported to more than 40 countries around the world, instant coffee so far has only been produced in India.

Vietnam has marked TATA's first breakthrough outside the Indian borders as a manufacturer, so this is TATA’s milestone on the journey to become a global company specializing in coffee. TATA Coffee will make every effort in coffee processing operations with a special focus on safe working conditions. The project will contribute positively to foreign exchange earnings and create more local jobs.

It is reported that Vietnam is currently the world's largest producer of Robustas, which is conducive to providing a favorable raw material for the plant.

Toyoda Gosei Invests in Auto Parts Factory in Tien Hai Industrial Park

  Toyoda Gosei Group, the world's leading manufacturer of auto parts, supplying for Toyota (Japan) has decided to choose Tien Hai Industrial Park, Viglacera as the location to set up factory in Vietnam.

Viglacera Real Estate Trading Company and Toyoda Gosei Group of Japan have just signed a land lease contract with an area of 11.3 hectares in Tien Hai Industrial Park, Thai Binh province, which is invested by Viglacera Corporation.

Toyoda Gosei is the world's leading auto parts manufacturer, supplying for Toyota, with a network of about 100 factories and offices in 18 countries and regions.

The new plant is expected to be built in early 2018 and put into production in 2019 with a total investment of 24.6 million USD, specializing in the production of airbag components and airbags for safe protection for drivers and passengers in cars, leather and polyurethane coated car steering wheels.

Toyoda Gosei's products will be exported to Japan, USA, Europe and some other regions.

Toyoda Gosei has also invested in Hai Phong, with 3 large-scale workshops, and also one of the largest investment companies in Nomura Industrial Park in Hai Phong.

Tien Hai Viglacera Industrial Park has the advantage of geographical position when locating near the coastal highway connecting the 6 northern coastal provinces (Quang Ninh - Hai Phong - Thai Binh - Nam Dinh - Ninh Binh - Thanh Hoa), which has just started construction in May 2017. Korean Corporation Builds Aircraft Engine Spare Part Factory in Vietnam

  Hanwha Techwin is seeking opportunity to expand capacity through opening factory abroad and they chose to set up factory in Vietnam.

Hanwha Techwin Corporation from Korea has selected a 10 hectares site on the suburb of Hanoi to build a factory manufacturing aircraft engine spare parts.

The Corporation is now waiting for the Vietnamese Government to approve the project. If licensed, Hanwha Techwin will start construction of the factory in August 2017 and begin operation in the second quarter of 2018. This factory covers an area of 6ha, 8 times more than a regular football field.

In order to implement the plan to raise revenue from aircraft engine spare parts to 900 million USD, Hanwha Techwin is seeking to expand capacity through opening factory abroad. In which, among many areas targeted by Hanwha Techwin, Vietnam was selected for having a suitable logistics environment and high competitive advantage in terms of production costs.

This technology corporation is expanding its engine parts business by winning large contracts from leading global aircraft engine manufacturers such as GE, Pratt & Whitney (P&W) and Rolls-Royce.

Earlier in April 2017, Hanwha Techwin Corporation started construction of Hanwha Techwin Security factory in Que Vo Industrial Park, Bac Ninh province. Phase 1 of this 100-million-USD project will manufacture CCTV camera, storage devices, high technology security surveillance devices.

Cargill (USA) Will Build Factory in Bac Ninh

  Cargill Company (USA) is planning to build a factory specializing in producing livestock feed in Bac Ninh. It shows the attraction of Vietnam market, which makes foreign enterprises to come and invest in Vietnam.

On January 6^th 2017, Chairman of Bac Ninh province had a meeting with Mr. Jorge – CEO of Cargill Vietnam came to survey and explore Bac Ninh province. Cargill is the US leading company in the fields of agriculture, food, industrial products and financial services. With more than 150,000 employees working in over 100 countries in the world, the revenues of the Company reached 150 billion USD a year.

In Vietnam, Cargill has 11 factories manufacturing and processing livestock feed in many localities across the country, such as Dong Nai, Hung Yen, Long An, Can Tho, Binh Dinh, Dong Thap and Nghe An..., creating jobs for thousands of workers.

Through surveys, Mr. Jorge impressed with the favorable investment environment, infrastructure, drastic and flexible management system of Bac Ninh province. Hence, the Company intends to build a factory manufacturing livestock feed in Que Vo 3 Industrial Zone in the first quarter of 2017.

It is expected that the Cargill factory has a total investment of 60 million USD, with the area of land to be used is 11 - 13 ha, capacity of 70,000 tons/month. This will be the largest factory of the Company in Vietnam, applying modern technology and equipment with a closed and environmental friendly deodorizing process.

The Chairman of Bac Ninh province welcomes Cargill Company has trusted and choose Bac Ninh as investment destination to invest in stable and long-term production. He also assigned the Management Board of Industrial Zones in coordination with the VID Group – the infrastructure investor of Que Vo 3 Industrial Park and other offices complete the legal procedures and creating all necessary conditions for the project of Cargill Company.

Panasonic Moved Its Factory from Thailand To Vietnam

  Panasonic will close a large factory outside Bangkok - Thailand early this fall and move production to set up factory in Vietnam to get better production efficiency.

Specifically, according to Nikkei, Panasonic's factory in Bangkok will stop producing washing machines in September 2020 and refrigerators in October 2020. The plant itself will be closed in March 2021, a research and development center will also be closed.

About 800 employees currently working at the factory in Bangkok will be laid off, but will also be recruited to new positions in the same business. By moving production to Vietnam, Panasonic will save a lot of costs.

Panasonic's factory in Vietnam is currently the largest refrigerator and washing machine manufacturing center in Southeast Asia, the plant's production capacity has now exceeded the required threshold.

This movement also reflects a new phase in manufacturing sector of Southeast Asia. Since the 1970s, Japanese electronics manufacturers have moved their production domestically to Singapore and Malaysia when the Yen increased rapidly because of the exchange rate floating policy that was applied for the first time and hurt the price competitiveness of Japanese goods. After that, production activities were transferred to countries like Thailand because of the increasing salary in Singapore.

Now, businesses are looking for cheaper places and also want to gain deeper access to markets where the demand for refrigerators, washing machines and microwaves is increasing in populous countries in Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam.

Panasonic has been producing home appliances in Thailand since 1979. The total output that Panasonic produces in Southeast Asia after the latest change will not diminish.

Panasonic currently employs about 8,000 workers in Vietnam. Not only producing large appliances, the local Panasonic factory also produces TVs, cordless phones, terminal card payment devices and industrial equipment.

Panasonic is currently in the process of restructuring with the goal of reducing costs by 100 billion yen or about 930 million USD in the fiscal year ending in March 2022. Panasonic is also considering continuing to adjust equipment manufacturing operations. Last year, Sharp also increased its capacity to produce washing machines and refrigerators in Indonesia by 30% and 20%, respectively.
